GLD Overview

What is GLD?

Ground Loop Design (GLD) is an integrated suite of powerful, flexible and customizable tools for designing commercial and residential closed loop ground source heat pump systems. GLD is Windows-based and runs on Macintosh computers running Parallels or Bootcamp.

The current edition offers a range of advances including concentric borehole design controls and the new Piping System Builder module, a powerful tool that automatically builds piping systems.

Based on the published literature as well as on ASHRAE/ IGSHPA industry guidelines, GLD provides designers with confident design calculations for vertical, horizontal, surface water and hybrid systems.

GLD enables a designer to quickly and accurately:

  • Select dynamic mechanical equipment
  • Calculate boring/excavation requirements
  • Determine pipe lengths, types and layouts
  • Optimize piping configurations
  • Ensure efficient circulation pumping
  • Design optimized headers
  • Estimate life cycle costs (LCC)
  • Predict C02 emissions saved
  • Design stable systems
  • Satisfy customers

GLD provides designers with an advanced, comprehensive, easy-to-use and customizable engineering toolbox for optimizing ground source heat pump systems. Download a trial now to see why GLD is the #1 geothermal design software in the world.
